What time is it?

We were 8 people that drove up to the north of Thailand to ride our bikes. The area we were heading for was Loei. Mountainious and far away from the civilisation in many ways, but it is beautiful up there.

We started downhill and it was freezing, absolutely freezing, but shortly after we were climbing the hills under the scorching sun.

We reached the top, got the group together.

I could inform the group that we now had reached the height of 782 meters and David told us that the gradient were 12% the last 200 meters of the ascent. Daniel said his heartrate had never been higher and Mark said that he did not think it was possible to have a cadence of 18 and not fall over.

James asked what time it was and we all looked at our watches and no one could give an answer.

Radio

We are going to do radio in Thailand. Me and my Friend Peter. Swedish radio for Swedes in Thailand. Living here, working here or recharging here.

I am very excited.

Facebook

Today I saw someone on the SkyTrain that I am friends with – on Facebook. We’re not really friends but we share the same name. Even though his is really Federico. But that is not his fault, is it?

Standing there on the Sky Train I was thinking should I say hello? Why should I say hello? Shouldn’t he come over to me and say hello?

I guess we’re not good friends at all. No one said anything. Maybe we were both thinking that ‘Ah, I can always poke him later, no need to talk to him.’

Thank God for Facebook?

Starbucks

I went back to Starbucks again today. I had been to SuperSports, hoping they could help me fix the battery for my Polar S625X. But no. No surprise really, it’s usually the same thing in Stockholm.

Anyway, at Starbucks I was in line behind two Swedish guys, both oredering Latte. Huge ones. But the interesting thing was that one of them ordered his coffee ‘Medium hot’. Never heard that before, can you really do that?

I did not see him complain so I guess you can.

Article in English

Last week I finished an article in English and a couple of days ago I was told that it will make the magazine!

I am actually kind of thrilled.

Fashion?

Yesterday we had our maid here again. She thinks that she has the best job in the world since we have been away from Bangkok so much lately. She rarely has to come here.

Yesterday I was dressed up in a pinstriped suit because I was going to “work”. I was giving a brief presentation to Swedish Senators that were visiting Bangkok.

She looks at me, wearing my suit which is a rare event these days, and says with a surprised look on her face:

“Whe you go?”

Me: “Work” Did not feel I could nor had the time to explain further

Maid (with even more surprise in her eyes now): “Work!? Whe you work?”

Me: “Well, I’ll be talking and maybe answering some questions”

Maid: “Ahhh, job inteview then”

And starts walking away.

I feel I should explain so I start saying no no, it is… and then – No. I don’t have the time.

I walk over to the door and I put on my black shoes. I realize that they are a bit worn out, they don’t look as nice as they should for an occasion like this.

So with one black shoe on, I put on a beige shoe to see what shoes would be best to wear.

Now she comes over to me again looks at my feet and I ask her:

“Which one is more suitable?”

She looks at me very very surprised:

“Khun Feddick, what you do? Why dis”

So I repeat my question:

“Which one is better looking”

Maid:”But khun Feddick, why one black and one not black?

Fashion?”

She wins every time.

We have a visitor for a week. He stays out a little longer than we normally do. But he likes to keep me informed about his whereabouts. I’ve decided to publish the list of text messages I have recieved over the last couple of nights. I think they are hilarious.

Smoke free France?

Is France slowly becoming civilized or are we losing France as we know it and love it?

France imposed a ban on smoking in public places, bars, nightclubs and CAFÈS… on Jan 1.

France stands for Egalité, Fraternité and Liberté – which is being represented by the cafés according to one interviwee in IHT.

I’d say it is good, France is becoming more civilized, step by step.
